Tbh we all know the US can’t get past the round of 16 anyway that’s our ceiling. The ending might come earlier than we might think but there are obvious limits to this team

I think that would be exceeding expectations. Do you not realize how bleak things looked even just a year ago

This was our B squad and it took Turkey legit until the very last minute to win it.

Thank you. There is no depth I get crucified for saying the truth they played well games one and two but depth or not they proved we don’t have the depth

The US across three games has started 21 unique players. The first two were wins, the last hard fought. That’s pretty good depth.

Even with the depth they can’t beat a team like France Spain England Argentina anyway. If we are trying to win a World Cup it’s not even in the stratosphere rn. Before this tournament most of us would say getting to a quarterfinal would be a good tournament for us

Very true but do they have any chance of beating a France or Argentina? We all know the World Cup journey has to end before the quarterfinals

No it’s not when you have to compete vs teams like Spain, Germany, France, England, etc. they have 11 starters and improved depth by American standards. They do not have quality depth that can be trusted against a singular knockout round opponent

Yes I agree but what is a successful World Cup to you by your expectations? That was more my point. For most of us it was get to a quarterfinal and we are happy

Winning it all. I will be happy every round they go but anything short of winning the entire thing is failure

Oh fair in that case this team has a long way to go because they have nowhere near the depth of most European or South American teams

Most top ones I mean, they are probably the 16th best team to me in the tournament

Yes and I get crucified for saying that. This team is an upper echelon team compared to Americans but the U.S. issue isn’t that its starters weren’t good enough it’s that you can only trust the starting 11. The talent in the starting 11 is way better but we still will fall off at the 75th minute against any team with comparable talent

Yeah even before the tournament people were saying the USA were going to finish last in the group
