In this world it’s just more of a safety precaution personally for me I’d like to keep one in my house especially if I decide to have kids

Sure I get the idea but the data doesn’t really support the idea that having a gun keeps you safe. It actually shows the opposite, owning a gun introduces significant risks to yourself and the people around you. You are much more likely to die a violent death if you own one and keep it around you. People like the idea of it and the feeling they get from having one, hard to argue with feelings
