Well, Im just straight. Thats my choice and all that. Part of it is a “religious” thing even tho im not overly religious. That’s why I don’t align myself wit it and just due to the fact im straight. But I never have discriminated against anyone in your community. Literally was out at a bar with some friends who are a part of the community. I’m just not a part of it due to the fact I’m straight. Yes I’m not a part of the community but I’m chill wit them. I have gay/lesbian/trans friends and I respect them and value them. But I am not them. Idc who people decide to love. That’s up to them. And with the religion thing, it’s the most common issue regarding it. However, in my argument to people who say it’s a sin… everybody sins and in the Bible it says that all sin is weighed the same. So if they want to use the “being gay is a sin” card, then they must be sinless themselves to judge.

I don’t really like bringing religion into that kinda thing. I’m not overly religious and I believe in religion for the idea that it’s supposed to be filled with love, peace, and joy. I don’t do the whole judgement thing because it just dehumanizes people when we, biblically, are not even allowed to cast judgement. No matter if it’s a sin or not, too many Christians judge which turns people away imo

But, by labeling it as a sin, it’s going to make those that are gay or transgender question their identity and feel guilty just because of the way they are. No matter how much you want to pretend it doesn’t exist or is immoral, it exists, and even lines of reasoning like this is what allows transphobia and homophobia to remain rampant in American culture.

Fr, raised catholic, and most of it is them just religion as an excuse to be homophobic/transphobic. Tho old interpretations did teach that way, there have been new and better translations of the Bible and passages can be interpreted differently ways. But what I believe is that the main theme, of at least Catholicism, is love and respect everyone and everything.

It’s only a sin because the Bible was mistranslated multiple times. The original line everyone gets in a hissy about “a man shall not lay with another man” was really for pedophilia. “A man shall not lay with a child” is the actual translation. But the priests were pedos and didn’t like that
