Greening out is all mental. I’ve smoked for probably 4 years and have never greened. I’ve noticed people who are nervous about how they’re gonna handle smoking a lot or people who start telling themselves they’re too high leads to greening many times

not true my friend took too much his first time and ended up puking and dry heaving for a while. that’s not mental it’s just too much thc in your system, especially if your body isn’t used to thc.

Partly mental, but if you smoke too much or take too much edibles you can 100% green out no matter the mental state

It’s the same with psychedelics. If you fight it you’re going to have a horrible time, but if you just ride the wave it’ll be okay

Yeah I think so too if I ever feel like I’m too high I just go to sleep😭😭😭 (the last time I felt like this I took an edible I thought was WAAAAYYYY lower in dose than it was and started feeling like my soul was just floating around in my body and took my ass straight to sleep)

I like when people make a post and have no idea what they are talking about. Greening out is real, but it doesn’t happen to everyone. Also biology plays a big role in it.

Lmao this is not true at all. Sure it can also be mental but I’ve had an edible that made me sleep for 3 days straight. I also had a cart that made me sleep for an entire day off just 3 hits. I think you’ve just never had strong enough weed. For reference I’ve smoked every day multiple times a day for the past 3 years

I’ve definitely been way too high before but never actually greened out

that said, a lot of people do just get in their heads and have a panic attack and call that greening out

True it would be pretty easy to green if you smoke way over your limit but I still think mentally makes the difference

Lmaooo what’s that got to do with greening out tho? I’ve smoked plenty of strong weed and been past what I would call my limit I just calm myself and ride it out

Unfortunately I get the concept but can’t make my brain commit to it all the way 😭 I just get really scared and anxious for an hour then I’m good, but at least I’m not throwing up

If it was his first time there’s a good chance he was in his head telling himself he took too much no? I know a lot of people are like that the first time and are already on edge

You can still green out if you calm yourself and ride it out tho. How is it possible to not ride it out, it’s not like you can reverse the effects or stop it all together.

You can absolutely fight it and make it an exponentially worse experience, like trying to be in control of the situation

you think his overthinking caused him to puke it out and dry heave for 20 minutes straight? thats not a mental thing it’s just the body’s reaction

I mean yeah, that’s exactly like what happens with anxiety. It’s a physical reaction caused by an entirely mental condition. It’s not like vomiting from alcohol, where you’re actively poisoning your body and it’s trying to expel the poison.

i understand where you’re coming from but i just don’t think that’s how it works. i’m fairly certain it’s the body rejecting the thc. same thing happens with other drugs if you take too much.

From what I’m reading about other drugs like nicotine as well as THC, it does ultimately boil down to a mental issue causing a physical reaction. Meaning, it’s not the substance itself inducing vomiting (like alcohol), but it overwhelms your nervous system, much like anxiety, and can lead to physical symptoms like vomiting. I know there’s a better way to explain this but I can’t quite figure it out

Can you site a source for this? Because I when I research the topic I’m getting the opposite answer. Do you think cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is somehow also mental? THC causes a receptor overload in the brain and gut making one vomit. Anti nausea meds can’t even combat it because it doesn’t target the correct receptors. What’s your take?

CHS is entirely different from greening out and not really relevant to the conversation. Regardless, the brain and stomach are extremely connected. I’m sure you’ve heard of the stomach being the second brain. But again, the nausea happens because your nervous system is overwhelmed. You even just said it yourself. Think of nausea/vomiting as a more extreme version of sweating as far as anxiety symptoms go.

Your brain can make just about anything happen for any reason. You can even manifest real physical symptoms of conditions you don’t actually have if you’re anxious enough. I know I used to throw up every single day before school grades K-3 because I was so anxious it caused a physical reaction that severe. I never had any physical illness and obviously wasn’t on any substances, it was 100% a result of whatever was going on in my brain.
