I think with any religion, or belief structure, no one is a “perfect” believer It’s kind of like the “I can’t be vegetarian, I love bacon” argument Just be vegetarian, besides bacon. So why can’t you can be Buddhist, besides weed? Hope I’m making sense lol

essentially, buddhism is a code of ethics, which include giving up worldly possessions and getting rid of harmful actions. I would argue that buddhism has evolved, and even if you don’t follow all parts of it you can still reach higher states of mind, especially tranquility and comfort in yourself. Just do what you can, being human is the most important part of buddhism, making mistakes is essential. Much love.

there’s a lot of good lessons and things you can learn. you don’t have to go all in to benefit from it

i recommend these talks. they’re short so i like to listen to them on walks and they’ve brought me a lot of peace. https://www.dhammatalks.org/mp3_collections_index.html#basics
