Zionism began in the late 19th century, initially just as the belief that Jewish people need a country of their own so they can be safe. Sadly, over time this has evolved to become that Jewish people are superior and should do what is needed to secure this safety (even if the actions are unnecessary)

How you could try to cope with someone criticizing Israel’s mistreatment of Mizrahim. How they were put into refugee villages on the margins of society. How their children died or disappeared. How they were seen as “too fundamentalist” or “too Arab” by secularized Ashkenazim. How even outside the camps they were neglected in favor of Soviet Jewish immigrants. How Israel bombed Beirut’s Jewish quarter. Criticizing Israel based on the treatment of Jews completely contradicts your narrative
