Dude… that’s my point. The only reason I’m saying it was worse in America is because a whole civil war was fought over it and the entire Black populace (for the most part) was at one point enslaved. Caste prejudice still exists today in India, especially in rural areas, but it’s more of a religious than racist construct

I’d argue caring enough about ending it to have a war over it is significantly better than never addressing the prejudices that created the system in the first place, which is largely what India has done. I also don’t think the use of race is really relevant; both systems are designed to assign intrinsic value to groups of people, the separating factor is just an interchangeable excuse.
