It should be illegal to not get the measles vaccine and it should be illegal to possess dangerous drugs. No one said that except you

I think you should get the vaccine and if you want you can also do drugs

I personally think that on the same principle, it should be legal to abstain from getting a vaccine or to do drugs. It's not a government's place to go and tell me what to put in my body or what not to, even if they are right about what they want put in my body being beneficial.

When it comes to risking outbreaks of diseases & viruses I think you should be forced to take them. We’ve taken the vaccines and we are fine

Vaccines certainly aren't without risks, and your personal experience of taking them and being fine doesn't take away from the risks

You run bigger risks that implicate those around you without the vaccine

Yeah and that's your prerogative.

The idea that we should relinquish control of something as basic as our own bodies to the government only works if you can trust your government 100% for your entire life. If that's not an accurate description of your opinion on the current American government then we have bigger fish to fry.

I trust credible doctors and scientists. Not the government.

Even if the government gives us vaccines from credible doctors and scientists to put in our bodies today, who's to say that it won't be literal poison, psychoactive drugs to numb our minds, or any other horrible substance the next day?

You might say that the government wouldn't do that, but history tells us when we lose our freedoms in such a form, such horrible atrocities are not far from being reality.

Be for real dude, scientists publish papers to cover all of the details. I personally didn’t trust the covid vaccine due to its age, I didn’t get it. I completely understand your point but majority of vaccines have been around for ages and have tons and tons of research done on them. Doctors aren’t dumb, they wouldn’t all advocate for vaccines if they were bad.

With a government that I already believe isn't transparent, is authoritarian, and isn't ideologically opposed to such totalitarian practices, I'd have to be a complete fucking idiot to willfully give up my bodily autonomy.

I'm not making the argument that vaccines are bad so stop getting defensive about that.

We are, but we aren't arguing the efficacy of them.

Either way man the government isn’t the only one that has put effort towards vaccines. There’s tons of people that are just genuine good people that research and deliver vaccines. I know the government has potential to be evil brother

Well I'm not saying we should do away with vaccines, or that it's even a beneficial choice to abstain from them personally. I'm not a doctor and you shouldn't make decisions about your health based on what I say anyways. What I am saying is that bodily autonomy is significantly more important than getting a 100% vaccination rate on a population.

I suppose we can agree to disagree.

We recently went through a world changing pandemic, and despite there being a large movement against vaccination for the virus causing the pandemic, it has largely calmed down since then. It's far from being necessary to fight disease, and its potential downsides when used by a totalitarian regime are far too risky to implement it regardless.

Yeah vaccines aren’t necessary to completely overcome a virus/disease. But I sure would have loved if my parents had the opportunity to be immunized as a child instead of being hospitalized 3 times and only then their bodies getting a chance to figure it out.

Well in my uneducated eye, that sounds like an issue of availability. I have no problem with government initiatives to make vaccines more accessible, or even free. I think thats a great way to encourage people to get them without taking away from their freedom of choice. But nowhere in there do I get the conception that we need to make it illegal to not get one. Then your parents would've not only not been immunized, they'd have been convicted of a crime.
