New Constitutional Amendment idea: the right to a democratic trial. A 4th branch of government that is 100% just citizens. Set to convene whenever a large enough proportion of us demands it, with the power to execute justice when our government fails to.

Limitations may be needed.

We’d need to prevent takeover by the powerful.

So… jury duty?

(1) we can only hold a trial for government officials or extremely wealthy individuals

(1) continued. Or people who were formally wealthy or in government. Getting rid of your power does not exempt you from public consequences

(1) A random number generator could select citizens for jury duty, and it would be carefully tested— publicly— before and after each use.

I was thinking about that. How do we prevent takeover by the powerful and corrupt? I was thinking we could have a verified random selection process that chooses people for jury duty at random

Every time it convenes, it is randomly selected individuals

But if you have a better idea, I am all ears

Although I will note, the Diddy trial might be evidence that jury selection processes are not enough to prevent corruption.

Yeah, but everyday people initiate, organize, and run the whole trial

Because the existence of jury duty currently is not enough to convict the predators of the Epstein scandal

It should just be a draft with some form of educating if they’re inexperienced, it just comes down to vetting and background checks to weed out the problematic representation and only serve once per rotation.

Not everyone wants to do it bc either they just dont want to or are totally obligated to whats going and it would be best to have those people first seeing as they dont have the want for power most seasoned politicians have. Its not a perfect science but i feel one meeting terms would really help so people cant tale advantage of the system. Also if its only called into session when the government fails then it would really only be made of people who have the same views which there needs to be

some sort of fail safe for that too.
