I totally agree, but there’s a difference between not placating and being outright cruel. I’ve seen cruelty go both directions and that makes everything worse. Bridging a gap takes effort from both sides so if one refuses, that’s a very valid reason to redirect your energy, but it’s not a good excuse to waste energy exacerbating the problem.
