comments and also like. if you have an “apolitical” aunt or neighbor that you see once in a while who you suspect votes Republican. you gotta bring it up, and you gotta show them how sad you are about it. Those are the folks that really matter if we want this to end

They’re just gonna say it’s a liberal hoax. You could show them the videos of it happening with all angles, they’ll say it’s ai or the children were clearly professional agitators. They could be there and see it happen themselves, and they’d still rationalize some bullshit to justify it. They’re beyond saving

If you’re talking to someone like that, who just can’t engage with facts then yeah there’s no point but they aren’t all the same. I think we should try to give each person the benefit of the doubt before assuming they aren’t capable of engaging in a good faith conversation.

The thing is, there are a lot of people who voted for Trump that are pretty apolitical but right leaning & they just picked Trump without thinking deeply about it. And so then when the media says “everyone who voted for trump is bad and immoral and dumb”, then those people start to get defensive and they start to identify as a trump supporter when they didnt before because its a defensive response. Not everyone who voted for Trump is an avid Trump supporter
