I always think this sentiment is interesting. Very much in favor of this guys statement and his family’s support of Palestine but hijabs are still symbols of the religious oppression of women, idk if we need to cheer that necessarily

Are nuns who wear a head covering oppressed too?

Am I’m the only one who thinks it’s crazy & insane to compare making porn consensually to incest & suicide

tbh i wish i was religious and felt as though my head, hair, and skin was so sacred that only a few people of this world can ever lay their eyes on it. that’s so empowering and beautiful for the soul. it’s a patriarchal society and i hate that context, but hearing that perspective from women makes it more inspiring than oppressive.

I’m not as familiar with the religious reasons for nuns wearing their head coverings but I’m not aware of anywhere where those coverings are required by law

Porn is problematic because it’s usually consumed unhealthily and the way the industry is managed usually leads to abuse of the women involved. However there’s no moral failing involved in making that type of content, we were all given our bodies to do whatever we want with them. If it’s consensual and ethical then there’s no issue

Incest is an easy one to set aside as a different case, there are clear biological harms there which point to the practice being a bad idea. Also suicide is pretty obviously directly harmful and should be prevented in most cases, however there are instances where suicide should be allowed and would be an act of mercy.

There are no such comparable harms for adults choosing to have casual sex or produce adult content. They’re religiously and culturally taboo but that’s really it

My ethics have nothing to do with a lack of action in Gaza. The genocide there is being allowed to continue because the ICC and UN are toothless and America wants it to happen so it is allowed to happen.

In your scenario are we ignoring the inherent power dynamic, grooming, and fact that contraceptives are not 100% effective

Under your parameters, why shouldn’t it be permitted?

So you can’t say why its wrong other than “my religion says so”

“Its bad because my religion says its bad” isn’t a solid enough basis for anything

Large part of society also thought two dudes or two women kisses was detestable and disgusting

So tell me why its bad, why does your religion say its bad. And which religion are we referring to?

Taking morality from the prophet that married a child?

Again all you have is “its bad because it says its bad” and you can’t elaborate any further than that

Uncle Ben once told me that with great power comes great responsibility, so you really can’t say my morals are completely subjective

Its wrong to marry children today? Why do so many muslin countries have such high rates of child marrying then?

Having sex with a kid is bad because children cannot consent, I dont need a god to tell me that

Holy shit you’re genuinely defending having sex with children, you genuinely think that a 16 year old kid can consent to being with a 20+ year old man

I was in the middle of breaking down statistics on how the child marriages tend to be between teenage women and men and their mid 20s but you already went ahead and defended that

You can’t come into a conversation sitting upon a supposed moral high ground and then turn around and then defend having sex with children, that’s probably the dumbest thing Ive ever seen in this community so far

You keep throwing objectivity and your god together as if we are supposed to believe it to be an absolute truth Do you condemn the child marriage that happens in islamic countries

“For the most part” so in which instances do you agree or see nothing wrong with child marriage? To you when is it morally appropriate for a child to marry an adult

So as long as they have hit puberty, they can consent and there is nothing wrong with them consenting to marriage with someone in their 20’s Kids hit puberty around 10 years old, and to you this would be fine and morally acceptable
