Bush and Obama are not president. Venezuelans still remember and miss democracy. There is a legitimately elected leader immediately ready who just won the peace prize. Our objective was achieved in a few hours. This is not like Vietnam or Iraq at all.

When you invade a country, lots of civilians tend to die, and for every one of those civilians who dies, there’s now five of their loved ones with every reason to shoot your soldiers, build IEDs, etc. And America doesn’t do well against insurgencies after we topple governments.

Howd that go in afghanistan? Right. Took 10 years to find a senior Bin Laden (former CIA operative) in a house literally 15 minuted down the road from one of the largest US bases in the region who hadn’t been in charge of Al Qaeda in years. Then we stayed there for another 10 years.
