Women’s rights in Israel aren’t even particularly good relative to western countries. Yeah they have to serve in the IDF, there’s a lot of discrimination elsewhere. Being in the military isn’t a sign that they’re treated equally. When many highly educated women immigrated from the former Soviet Union, they struggled to find good employment due to greater gender-based discrimination than in Russia.

"In the US women serve voluntarily" everybody serves voluntarily. conscription hasn't been done in generations. selective service registration for men is mostly a formality
