But in all seriousness, if the point of taxes was to fund social programs to help people, we'd be living that already. That is objectively not the point of taxation, and we should focus on funding things that actually do this instead of throwing money at taxes until they change their ways.

By the way this man was declared a Servant of God, meaning a serious case for sainthood has been opened by the Vatican. (this process usually takes a few decades or centuries)

The point of taxes is to run the country…Schools, infrastructure, roads, social programs, defense, healthcare, commerce, law making, etc. This idea that taxes are spent only on kitty litter boxes for schools or to only to enrich elites is a stupid man’s idea of what taxes are for.

Never said they were for either of those things, I said they weren't there to fund social programs to help people. Might they fund social programs? Yes, but they don't do so out of the kindness of their hearts. They do it because it propagates their power.

I would much rather my money goes to someone helping people out of the kindness of their heart than an entity who only helps people because it benefits them.

Largely because of the reasoning, but also because I can't trust the ladder. What happens if helping people no longer benefits them? You can't say the same about the person doing it out of the kindness of their heart, it will always be kind to help people.

You’re so close to getting it. You realize taxes ARE supposed to go to helping the people right? And you’re mad at the government for using that money for power and personal gain? When they’re using taxes to propagate power and don’t care about helping the people is when they need to be replaced. This is exactly what people have been talking about for decades. That’s why government officials are public servants their purpose is to SERVE the PUBLIC needs. Taxes are using your money to help others
