Most societies were not matriarchal. In fact it’s very rare for a society to be matriarchal. Matrilineality is quite common in some parts of the world, but matrilineal and matriarchal are not the same and it is a common misconception to think so.

Some societies saw heavier women as being more attractive (and a great many still do!) but that’s not universal.

It is common for many societies around the world to have conceptions of transgender people, but that does not mean that trans people were always treated well and accepted. In India, Hijra are a transgender social role. But they are treated very badly and exist at the margins of society.

And misogyny is absolutely not a European conception. Papuan traditional society is incredibly misogynistic, as was Hawaiian traditional society and many west African traditional societies. Many eastern Native American societies were matrilineal but would steal women during tribal warfare and force them into marriages within their own tribe to absorb the chief lines of their rivals. Does that scream matriarchy to you?

European society is not uniquely evil. Every society has their own taboos and bigotries and problems. And in many cases the bigotries of that society is what allowed European colonial influence to gain a foothold. Hawaii became Christian because king Kamehameha dismantled Hawaiian traditional religion due to its misogyny. Conversions to Christianity allowed some Igbo to escape their untouchable castes and existing social expectations (ex the ritual killing of twins).

I would compare this to how many Tamils in Indonesia converted to Buddhism in order to escape the traditional Hindu caste system. This attraction was not unique to Christianity.

It does not do other cultures a favor to infantilize them and treat them as perfect when they are flawed too and have their own issues that people are still currently working to reform.
