
I mean, yeah, decapitation strikes don’t work. We used decapitation strikes because I guess we thought Iran would magically just fall because of it. But that’s not how this ever goes. All Trump has done is eliminate anyone from central command who could’ve come to a negotiation table, and now the war is being waged by the lower officers who still have caches of weapons available to them, and nobody to tell them when and how to use them. Decapitation has only made this war more difficult.
Regime decapitation only works if the regime is already exceptionally weak. Which, for all the terrible things I can say about the Iranian government, simply wasn’t the case with them. The Iranian government was entrenched, powerful, and highly organized. When you decapitate a regime like Iran’s, the body of the regime just keeps moving. This isn’t some situation where we took out a new regime that had only existed for a few years. Decapitation was the dumbest possible strategy for Iran.
