I don’t believe in elitism or anything But conservative states ARE behind liberal ones in basically every metric, that’s not debatable, and I’m just wondering why

So part of it is historical and part of it is governmental. Conservatism tends to be most prominent in white rural areas, especially those that are very poor and especially in the south (where infrastructure still hasn’t totally recovered from the civil war).

Part of it is that red states are more rural, which puts them at a disadvantage from the start. The lack of a social safety net means that many people get left behind as well, lowering their scores for like basically every metric.

People who are more educated tend to be more left leaning. So if a region has good education, it tends to be less conservative. Areas that are doing well economically will attract more educated people and have a more diverse population, meaning more liberal. And if an area becomes more educated, it will usually be less conservative.

You also have the factor of conservative states just having shit governments. They just don’t want to fund anything. They don’t fund education, they do whatever the fuck Texas has done to fuck its own power grid, they don’t fund healthcare and social programs. This actively makes their own states worse.
