me as a black leftist am not against the holiday being nationalized per se but it feels performative to me with the lack of real federal efforts to address racial oppression

It is a stupid holiday not because of what it is celebrating but why it was created. Its full title is Juneteenth National Independence Day. It is a way for liberals to segregate the celebration of independence for people by race.
