Every recession in the last 60 years has occurred under a Republican administration and they still want to claim they’re the party of fiscal responsibility.

We’ve been in a recession since the pandemic. The numbers just don’t show it because they’re largely skewed by how well the wealthy are doing. Stop criticizing some politicians that allow capitalistic recessions to occur and not others

This argument falls apart when you realize that doing the fiscally responsible thing will lead to recession

The fiscally responsible thing is to not cause recessions

All of you don’t understand economics, I’m not even defending conservatives with this take. It’s just true if we balanced the budget, stopped money printing, and hiked rates to curb inflation (fiscal responsibility) there would be a massive recession on the scale of the Great Depression. There’s a reason no politician runs on this agenda.

If something is going to cause another great depression then it's probably not fiscally responsible

You don’t understand economics and it shows cause you just say things without refuting the actual argument

you haven't made an actual argument buddy. you stated a claim and then said two thought terminating cliches in place of an argument

P1: Alright let me lay it out for the uneducated. Inflation is out of control, debt to gdp is over 100%, and the fed balance sheet is still expanding. The responsible solution to all this is to balance the budget (so debt goes down), hike interest rates (cool the economy to lower inflation, and start quantitative tightening.

P2: now the issue is we are a consumption based economy so doing these things would lower consumption because there is less money and cheap credit in the system. So even though eventually this would bring manufacturing and actual production back to America there would be a long period of economic pain aka Great Depression esque recession. Although in the long run it’d be good

now you've actually made a substantive argument that people can contend or agree with. congratulations. next time start with that instead of vague posting and then calling people uneducated when they reply to your non-argument with non-arguments 👍

the onus is on *you* to say something warranting a substantive reply. making a vague claim then following it up with *thought terminating cliches* neither warrants nor deserves anything but dismissal. do you know what thought terminating cliches are and how they function in discourse? by saying "it's just true" and "there's a reason" you've attempted to end further investigation of / challenge to your claim, which was unsubstantiated and vague to begin with. YOU made this happen bud

i find it humorous when people, upon being insulted, immediately jump to "you must be mad". it's clearly projection. i'm rarely upset when i insult people - in fact i tend to avoid insults when i'm upset

omfg you troglodyte. the post is a thread and the comments are threads within that. the "original guy" can be both you or op. stop pretending to be dumber than you naturally are i digress, your answer is "yes" which leads us to the very obvious reality that op wasn't making an argument, they stated two objective facts which are that republicans have lead every recession and republicans claim to be the part of fiscal responsibility. this is literally just the truth, not an argument

i had no intention of arguing with a dunce who can't even frame an argument properly. i just wanted you to know that the reason nobody was arguing wasn't a lack of knowledge but a lack of anything to argue with. you cannot argue with vague nonsense and thought terminating cliches. then you managed to actually say what you should've to begin with. my work here is done. now you're just whining with your panties in a twist

it's not "semantics". semantics is about the meaning of words (THIS is a semantic argument) telling you "you haven't made an argument so people aren't going to argue" isn't semantic
