Anything the gov. tries to do, private sector does better. From public transit (where the government gets shafted with terrible pricing due to shitty, bureaucratic procurement) to Mandami’s government-run grocery stores (which will undoubtably cost more)

What private companies allow constant free buses

Yeah because European public transportation infrastructure is failing. When I talk to Germans or Fr*nch people they all dream about having privately owned transit and healthcare. When I tell them about how much my university costs they cry and scream about how they could be paying that much if they were American.

I wish we could do infinitely more but we have gotten a train to the airport in my city! It’s really nice, tickets are $2 so I’ve never paid more than that to go to the airport.

Government is always inefficient, partly out of bureaucracy, partly out of lack of profit margin, partly bc of incompetence

Inefficiency, in the proper sense of that word, is one of the benefits of government services. The entire idea is that providing services at non-profitable or barely-profitable rates creates positive externalities greater than the opportunity cost in revenue.

Yeah no. Paying $1 million dollar for buses that retail for $600K is simply getting shafted lol These gov agencies are terrible at negotiating and their procurement process as dumb as heck bc… wasting YOUR taxpayer dollars lol

Some companies have buses within their property Like obviously car rentals might have a bus from the airport to the car area . But that’s not really a public Good. Other companies with massive complexes have buses that take you from one side to the other

Like Deutsche Bahn is infamously not great, but that’s only when compared to France and Switzerland. Compared to the US it’s flawless.

it’s really free if you’re already paying the company somehow lmao

For the reasons described above, it is not a waste.

You know that there are more costs to running bus lines than the cost of the buses themselves, right? Also if the problem you have with governments is that they don’t invest all of their resources back into the service that they provide then I think you should find out what a “profit incentive” is before you defend capitalism.

No, clearly not. Free stuff is when you pay the government for it via taxation

It’s not about being profitable. It’s about NOT getting totally shafted for dumb reason that can easily be fixed (e.g. bureaucratic procurement process) If u get shafted, u are doing your constituents a grave disservice Your reasons above do not explain ANY benefits to getting ripped off by suppliers lol

I’ve rarely had a DB delay over 10 minutes, and I can travel to many more places in Germany with DB than in the US with Amtrak. Also, DB is one of the worst EU train networks.
