I’m sorry but this is out of touch with what’s happening in the real world. we have a socialist mayor in the largest city in the country (+32 net favorability) , more democrats view socialism positively over capitalism(66% vs 42%!), and all polling is pointing to an imminent progressive/DSA sweep in the Midwest primaries over the next two weeks. pls remind yourself that your twitter/reddit/whatever the hell feed is not real life and that the left is currently in the best shape it’s ever been in

I don’t think we should be arguing theory or accusing people who would otherwise support the cause of ignorance because life as a working class person means you don’t have the freedom to sit and absorb economic and social philosophy. It comes off as elitist and just out of touch when Twitter leftists say you can’t be a “true comrade” or whatever if you don’t have a deep understanding of Marx or Engels

oh absolutely. I’m not saying that it’s time to sit back and relax or anything like that, what I’m saying is that the left is making huge strides forward right now, regardless of whatever in fighting is happening in annoying book clubs or leftist internet spaces…so I don’t really see how it’ll be “the death of us” lol

imo It comes off as elitist and out of touch to assume that someone can’t read/understand theory because they’re working class, hell I first read the manifesto when I was working 60+ hour weeks at a bullshit job that didn’t pay nearly enough!! I do agree though, it’s not an absolute necessity or whatever tf stalinlover69 is saying on twitter. You really should read it but you don’t absolutely HAVE to is my take

I’m not saying that people can’t understand or comprehend it, I’m saying (as someone who has lived in the south my entire life) you are not going to get most people down here, or in any red state for that matter, to agree with things they’ve been told since birth are evil. IMO communication and action is much more important than making sure every person knows the core theory behind wanting to improve their lives
