It’s a congressional race to fill the unexpired term of Mikie Sherrill who resigned after she won the governor’s race

Ooooo very neat! Who are the runners and who is set to win? Why do you think it’ll be a bellwether (what is a bellwether?)? Sorry for asking so many questions

There are 14 democrats in the field and it’s a strong democratic seat so that’s not the race. The race is the democratic primary. No one is set to win. It will be interesting to see if a progressive candidate (in a district very close to NYC) can win or if the establishment will take them down and NJ will fall victim to the corrupt democratic machine politics they always fall to. A bellwether is a leading indicator so it’s an early sign of the future. I think it’s a bellwether because

we’ll see if the democrats actually support a progressive candidate which they haven’t really done before (we saw what happened with Mamdani) or if they stay with the party machine which most people don’t actually want
