Soo like remember Bacon’s rebellion? We could’ve had another but the rich elites strategically implementing race based slavery worked too well to keep the ppl divided and certain ppl don’t wanna wake up

I’m from southeast Virginia, right where Bacon’s rebellion happened. It’s honestly astonishing how much of our nation’s history was shaped by that one event where they realized “we can’t keep giving poor people land”

And also Bacon’s rebellion is an interesting example of how the views of the past may not be exactly how we expect. One of the primary demands of the rebels was to drive Native Americans out of Virginia to take their land, and they felt the colonial government was too pro-Native

Ppl ignore how black(free and enslaved) and white ppl(free and indentured servants) all rose against the rich because of economic hardship and to keep the ppl divided the freed all white ppl and enslaved all black ppl and gave white ppl a whip and a horse and said “ur better than the blacks”

Obviously I disagree with the anti-native sentiment. What I mean is, poor ppl free and enslaved all came together to rebel against the rich. And now they’ve got us divided on the basis of race because the rich know how powerful the poor can be

It’s very similar to the playbook used after reconstruction. Orient the attitudes of poor whites to focus on repressing black people rather than to target the wealthy
