Someone is playing MadLibs with censorship conditions over there. Having said that, I think I see the logic in not having some of these as categories. And to get ahead of why I can see the logic? I’m not kinkshaming. I’m kink-asking-why.

I think the fundamental flaw here is trying to criminalize made up roleplay between consenting adults. Are they gonna ban the depiction of murder or shoplifting in movies out of fear that could encourage the real life action?

I’m not saying it’s right, but I do kind of understand why they do this. There are a lot of people who will not choke safely or even know that there is a safe way to choke, or will choke without consent.

And having said all that, I have enjoyed having my face sat on. So there’s my hypocrisy.

Yeah that’s it. If it’s said for public safety, I’m not gonna pass harsh judgement.

The new British laws also include sweeping criminalization of various roleplay categories that would broadly be considered “icky” but again are just roleplay

#3 made good points on criminalizing roleplay terms for consenting adults versus giving a pass on depictions of violence. It’s weird for the governing body to be so selective, while also not placing their attention on depictions that *can* have an adverse effect on people. Not certainly adverse, but it’s a comparison worth examining.
