Well to be fair, Luigi mangione and the guy who slimed Kirk *did*.

Id rather not. But the fact that people *are* doing that, and it’s being received shockingly well, says something that I don’t think you’re comfortable acknowledging.

It’s not that “shocking” to see people romanticize the actions of others. There’s a reason why a good portion of failed suicide attempts usually end with the people clamoring on about wanting to live. That’s what the word VICARIOUSLY was invented for.

Yeah. And that raises the question, why might a huge population of the country want to vicariously live through a man who slimed a health insurance CEO? Or through a man who shot a right wing ideologue?

Or throwing communists out of helicopters? Or going to a mosque and blowing away a couple dozen Muslims? The problem with your “question” is you think emotional catharsis is only one-sided. You want to live in a world where CEOs are getting merk’d? Okay…you only validate them doing the same to you.

More people are vicariously living through Luigi than they are people who throw communists out of helicopters.

Whether more people are cheering one act of violence than another doesn’t change the principle involved. If popularity determines legitimacy, then any sufficiently angry majority can justify killing whoever they hate that week.

I’m not the one crying. If you want to go and start offing politicians, CEOs, or just people you don’t like in general, no one is stopping you from deciding on doing that right now.
