Ya know a stat I don’t think we mention enough is 41% of women report drinking during their pregnancy, and it’s probably bc some doctors tell patients light drinking is fine despite science stating there is NO safe amount of drinking during pregnancyAlso it’s estimated about 1 in 20 people in the United States have a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder(FASD), and are often misdiagnosed with ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) and even ADHD because many of these FASDs don’t have any physical features (like we associate with fetal alcohol syndrome) despite life long developmental abnormalities, cognitives impairments, social issues, coordination issues, etc. Just some food for thought
as of 2023 ~60% of women report that they drink alcohol, that means if 41% of women reporting that they drink while pregnant: if your mother drinks, there is a 68.33% chance she drank while you were still just chilling. this number is likely higher because of bias in self reporting shout out ice spice
