Im not even talking about healthcare, Im talking about things like public grocery stores or free and improved public transport, these are literally investments into the AMERICAN PEOPLE that would cost pennies compared to other expenditures yet yall still cry abt them. Dont even start about healthcare pal tons of countries have figured it out and if don’t you think the US is able to provide it, or that its not worth it to even try, then you either work for an insurance company or are just stupid

3 trillion/year actually is around what UHS would cost but this is really about the government showing us where its priorities lie and the fact that so many countries are able to do this more than it is about the specific cost of anything. Like the US is basically saying its incapable of making something that 70+ countries already have

The reason to believe public grocery stores are cheaper is that they literally are 😭 If 30% of the market price is subsidized that literally means the food is gonna be 30% cheaper what are you talking about. US public transport has a problem with literally all three of these things, its no secret how much worse our metros are compared to some other countries, which you would know if you are well traveled. Like if they aren’t going to fix the shitty trains cant they at least stop raising fares?

Im confused on what our “same goal“ is, if you want to make life cheaper, how could you be against small efforts like this that objectively will save Americans money on everyday expenses and aren’t particularly difficult for the government to make. These are investments because it benefits everyone when people can get food for cheaper and move around easier etc. People will feel HAPPIER and FREER. Lowering taxes for the 10000th time is not gonna do anything

This is honestly just a privileged ass take, not everybody lives by a trader joes or costco, the whole point of these stores is so people in underserved areas have access to cheap and healthy food Hong Kong metro is only a quarter private, Singapore not at all, so Idk why youre lying or what your point even is in saying that, both are considered better than NYCs metro, which is considered the best in the US. Our government simply doesnt care about improving public transport, this is a fact

The public grocery stores that are planned for NYC basically just give anyone that qualifies a 30% discount, it helps them save money on groceries as well as the time and money it might take to travel to a costco, since again, these stores are placed in areas with limited food options

The government funds the majority of it what are you talking about, there are basically no metro systems in the world that are majority privately owned (as in they DONT have shareholders) because public transport is public infrastructure that is not supposed to be for profit
