being a plus size woman in america is a different type of hell that i don’t wish on anyone, especially with the current administration in office.

I was obese, then I realized I was unhealthy and unhappy. Then I worked out. I’ve lost over 40 pounds and I’m not done yet. I’m gaining muscle too. I’m happier. I’m healthier. I look better. I’m poor, I had an ED. But being fat sucked. Nobody has to be obese like I was.

right and people in the US will attack your fatness before your race bc fatphobia has become so ingrained in our society. at least racism is ostracized and protested against but we never see body positivity protests anymore.

and TOTALLY NOT saying being a minority is a cakewalk, but i feel like fatphobia has taken center stage especially with the advent of this new age fitness culture and “looksmaxxing”

I’m glad you worked things out though if I was taller my weight would be okay if I was 5’5 sadly I’m 5’1 so the weight I am doesn’t work

Don’t go on anything. Not ozempic not Wegovy nothing. Just get rid of the weight healthily and then it’ll stay gone and you’ll be healthier

do you not know how fatphobic you sound? 😭 society has conditioned us into thinking thinness = happy, healthy, and attractive. it requires a lot of deconstruction of being raised in a fatphobic society to not think thinness is inherently good. it’s not. all body sizes can be healthy and happy.

also not everyone can/wants to lose weight. im perfectly happy in my larger body and all of my health markers are great. losing weight needs to stop being praised as this amazing thing because it’s not. fatness ≠ misery and disease like society has conditioned us into believing. look into medical fatphobia and its history. so many of the illnesses that were *falsely* connected to obesity has been debunked by unbiased and fat friendly researchers.

Sorry but no, we as Americans should not be coddling this at all. Why do you think Europeans make fun of us so much. Because we have people who are LAZY and ENTITLED that think society needs to change for them alone. We should not be encouraging people to just be fat. If you’re happy being fat then the things people say should have no bearing on you, that is unless…you’re NOT actually happy being out of shape. Take some responsibility for once in your life.

😭oh sadly I did start wegovy but I appreciate it honestly i just want to look nice I rather be on it for the rest of my life as long as I can be okay I have a double whammy with being a person of color and fat sadly it’s hard out here to be “attractive” as some people might say I have to choose a struggle lol I went from 250 to 160 but sadly still overweight and I’m also tired so Hopfully wegovy can help me get down to 110 my doctor said that’s more weight I should be at 5’1

I agree being fat doesn’t mean misery I think people should have a choice in weather they want to be okay with who the are or not only the person can choose how they feel! I’m fat and I’m unhappy but I have other friends who are also plus size who are super happy and are in loving relationships I think it’s up to the people but I agree people shouldn’t be bullied into these things

But see this is the thing people in America will always have an option! Americans could be skinny if our food wasn’t so processed and expensive, there are poor people who are skinny because they can’t afford food it’s not by choice but also people have these options on fat people like you say we have to stop being lazy but once a fat person says they lot 150 pounds on gastric bypass or ozempic now it’s a problem and we care about how fat people lose weight

And might I add since rise of Reta and ozempic and all the weight loss drugs and even the bypass surgeries our obesity epidemic is actually going down it’s going down slowly but it’s not on a rise anymore but yet people will still complain! People are getting skinny but they will always criticize it for no reason
