If you listen to interviews he very hesitantly said he would. It was mostly other prominent right wing people who are very conspiracy brained and very badly wanted a pedo dem ring.

Because he wasn’t a client, he was a friend of Epstein for many years so he would likely be named at least due to a social association with him. For example Epstein mentioned Trump in an email back in 2011 wondering why the media wasn’t going after Trump despite being former friends with him

Narcissists don’t have the capability to think that far ahead when it comes to consequences. In his mind he was never guilty

Like, he’s got a cult, he’s a cult leader, he knew he could dangle the Pedo Files in front of his voters and they’d forget about it in a week when he talked about whatever else. And that’s largely been true, MAGA World shut the fuck up about that shit as soon as he said to shut the fuck about that shit.

Like, Charlie Kirk shamelessly said as much on his show. He was constantly talking about the Epstein files for months, and then Donald Trump gave the order to stop talking about it, and that same day Kirk went on his show and said he was gonna stop talking about it and “trust [his] friends in the government” along with multiple other commentators in that sphere.

Trump also relies a lot on his tried and true strategy of “Flooding the Zone” where there’s so many major stories each day that it’s hard for the press and thereby the public to lock in on any one controversy for too long. The DOJ did that Epstein presser with the podcasts and thought it would just be out of the news cycle by the next day.
