They’re probably referring to the OA-1K Skyraider which isn’t your typical “modern” US warplane so someone on the ground probably got confused and reported it as a civilian aircraft because the assumption is the US uses jets. I’m not defending what happened just trying to shed some light on a potentially misleading story that would distract from the very real horrors this administration has done in Venezuela. If this is a nothing burger then it hurts the anti-war cause

This plane is especially used by the special forces units that conducted the kidnapping of Maduro and the other operations in and around Venezuela

I think it’s highly unlikely the CIA fitted one of their shadow fleet planes with weapons to conduct a strike. The US already has the equipment to do that much more efficiently than an expensive retrofit that would only serve the purposes of being a war crimes factory. They do that in the open so there’s no point in hiding it. That plane is likely just a CIA plane bringing in and taking out supplies and people

The article does say this plane wasn’t painted the standard gray, so maybe that’s where the confusion was

The great part of living in a post-9/11 national security obsessed nation is that we won’t know until decades from now. They could have painted the plane to blend in with the jungle, they could have painted it to resemble a civilian crop duster, or they actually did do some elaborate scheme to arm an airliner. There will be no accountability until long after these people are gone.
