In literally a day we went from “we stole the president, we are going to run the country” to “the VP will cooperate with us” to “uhhhhh we will have an oil blockade to push changes”

“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition.” "We're designating various people, and we're going to let you know who those people are that would run Venezuela” “It's largely going to be for a period of time, the people that are standing right behind me. We're going to be running it."

Not in this case. Venezuela’s regulatory environment has politically controlled courts, weak rule of law, corruption, and can change at the drop of a hat. Companies are so allergic to the current situation in Venezuela that they won’t invest in its oil infrastructure. Until that’s changed, I don’t think any company is willing to risk such a large amount of money on VZ oil

They got involved in Nigeria, direct control is very lucrative we know for a fact at least BP and Shell are interested.

BP and Shell are both British and their licenses from OFAC to bypass US sanctions were both revoked in April, so I’d be surprised if the US gov gives them any help. The big US oil producers haven’t signaled any interest. Chevron currently operates a joint venture with PDVSA, but because of the risks associated with having private property in Venezuela (among other reasons), they haven’t put any money into improving the infrastructure for extracting oil

The U.S. now has control over the government though, so it’s far more likely for them to be interested when the U.S. can station troops to protect their assets.

Either she’s faking it to the Venezuelan public, or she’s lying to Trump. I would not say the US has control rn

You don’t root out corruption just by changing the person on top

That’s fair, I just mean it’s likely they’ll try to set up a puppet state like the US did with the banana republics, in that case I could very much see oil companies investing. Especially if that occupation actually happens.
