Yeah and people say it’s because of social media that I think this. But like I already said, I spent a lot of time in conservative forums and groups for around a whole month, trying so hard to change my mind and see others viewpoints. In the end, it actually made me hate them even more and realize that until we move past these people, it is bad faith to respect both sides in politics and act like we should just get over it and stop arguing all the time. Until then, it’s their fault debate’s dead
whenever I see a comment trying to pull the “both sides bad” card, I cringe and roll my eyes. This isn’t kindergarten where the teacher tells us to all get along no matter what, this is real world politics where an actual evil side exists, and where for once, it IS black and white.
I’m sure there will come a day when we can all debate in good faith and every side has something worthy to say like they did 20 to 30 years ago. Until then, the right has made debate meaningless, because it’s spent debating things we should never have to debate with people who have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s best that the left ignores them and focuses on what they know. I want to see past myself, but that’s not happening for a long time.
