I hate the sumbitch as much as the next person, but trading one authoritarian regime for another really ain’t the move. Cause respectfully, what you’re suggesting is no longer democracy, and actually sets the precedent for far worse to happen later onLike think about it. Say whatever democratic nominee runs on this platform. First of all that further alienates those on the right, driving us all farther apart. Then say this person gets elected and manages to go through with it. Millions of people who just weren’t given a proper education and fell for his propaganda are unjustly punished. Even if they fully believed in it, taking legal action against somebody for practicing their right to vote is blatantly undemocratic and unconstitutional.
If all that manages to happen though, then all of a sudden there’s legal precedent to take punitive action against large groups of people based purely on who they voted for. Say four more years go by and somebody worse than trump shows up and gets elected? Now they can do whatever the fuck they want without consequence, to even more of an extreme than they are now. All it is is a recipe for disaster
Oh yeah no I highly doubt anyone would actually try it, let alone be able to pull it off. I was mostly just running through the hypothetical series of events to demonstrate the predominately negative outcomes. Plus, we don’t really gotta do any outing or punishing of the actual hardcore fascists, cause by this point they’ve mostly outed themselves, and with the next few years they’ll face the consequences of their own actions yk. I doubt they’ll learn, but they wouldn’t either way
