Say you’re close with your mom. I’m picking a random person. You love her, but say she killed someone. You don’t support that part of her that wants to kill people, but you still love her because she’s your mom.

and yet i would still support my mother. i would support her in getting the help she needs to get better, i would do what i could to help steer her in the right direction

But you wouldn’t support the murder. You support all the other things about her but not the action in itself. I could say I would support someone who is transgender to get the help that they need and not the complete action

it still feels off to use that as your analogy. murdering someone and being transgender are two insanely different things.

and it feels like such a weird thing to think about, why think of support as a fragile thing that you can chip pieces off of as someone makes decisions, and not as a blanket way to show your compassion to someone
