I fear my reasoning is too niche so here’s the answer to every “never” coastal state; natural disaster risk. I grew up in northern Ohio, so natural disasters there are incredibly predictable and easy to avoid/shelter from. I can never put myself in a situation where my whole neighborhood is getting taken out by hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. annually

All of those states are very pretty but gen why would you want to live in Utah unless you’re a Mormon

I was gonna say the reds (never) are either too hot or too cold. But the East coast states throw me for a loop. Not DC. I get that one.

The scenery, extremely low risk of natural disasters, wide open land, lakes. I should specify that I’d be as close to the border of Nevada or Colorado as possible so having fun is still within range. I probably would’ve changed it to “willing” in hindsight

A never for DC is always valid lol. Also, your guess about the climate is on the right track

The COL on the West Coast stands on its own two legs as a reason for never is my next guess.

If it weren’t for the high CoL in states like Massachusetts and other north eastern coastal states they would definitely be in the willing category. Here’s my hint: even if every “never” state had the perfect climate year round, dirt cheap CoL and politics that are acceptable to me, they’d still be nevers

I’m from MA and unless you live right on the coast that is never a concern. No hurricanes or earthquakes — a bit of flooding sometimes and the occasional nor’easter but neither are natural disaster level. Honestly a great place to live if you don’t want to encounter weather events

Yeah Massachusetts has always seemed pretty safe as far as being out of reach of the everything coming up from Florida, I’m sure it’s like how I’ve had hurricane leftovers in northern Kentucky after particularly strong storms make their way that far inland. Most of the northeastern never states are due to CoL, and I don’t love the ocean and tourism that comes with it, I’d rather have lakes
