Well to apply a geography only lens, Ukraine has some of the richest farmland on earth (largest producer of sunflower oil, second behind Russia for wheat production.) Port access to the Black Sea (they want Istanbul) Ukraine has several deposits of uranium.

You’d think after 1,200,000 casualties they’d get the memo. Throwing bodies into the blender is what they’re doing, but corruption and incompetence keeps it going. Continued support for Ukraine is important, but we also need to make sure rollbacks aren’t attempted by Ukraine’s government. Russian economic collapse would probably be the best case for the end of the war, but they are trying to run a war economy which can be very good at keeping things up for a limited time, but not forever.

They have a war time economy. Without the war their country falls into a massive depression.
