The allegations are a politically motivated hit job intended to undermine the Trump administration. The inspectors general found the complaint not credible and Gabbard acted within her authority as Director of National Intelligence in handling sensitive intelligence.

I get the skepticism, but we’ve seen this movie before. From the Steele Dossier to the 51 intelligence officials claiming Hunter’s laptop was “Russian disinformation,” the intelligence community has a track record of using “anonymous whistleblowers” to launch narratives that fall apart under actual oversight. If the evidence was there, it wouldn’t be a leak to The Guardian. It would be a referral to the House Intelligence Committee.
