By that logic we’re colonized by everyone we give money to. Aka, all of NATO and any country we give foreign aid to.

That’s a stretch. I think an important aspect of colonialism is physically inhabiting the land of someone else

What country do we directly give money to without extracting resources? And NATO is an org, we don’t give aid money to NATO countries.

We did that to a lot of countries back when USAID was a thing. We also provided military funding to Ukraine.

My dude, none of these is unconditional aid apart from Israel (and Ukraine but that’s more proxy war). Jordan and Egypt are literally paid FOR Israel. We would have no need to send money to them otherwise.

What the hell do we get from Ethiopia Somalia and Nigeria? We don’t even have that much oil investment there.

All the countries along the horn get “aid” and we have a military presence in the area to control maritime trade (we also pay Yemen on the other side despite the Houthis ruining that). Nigeria is the biggest oil producer in Africa and has minerals.
