Went to a panel of professors talking about the Iran War today, and shoutout the one professor who came out and said “The US lost this war within the first 24 hours” and then detailed all the reasons this shit is just plain stupid lmao

Also it’s not an unreasonable opinion that we’re losing, because decapitation strikes don’t work (see: both of the last wars), Iran is a nation of 90 million people with a harsh terrain, meaning to invade would require 75-1 million ground troops, and every “small scale” ground invasion plan that’s been floated (like Kharg Island) would be a suicide mission. This shit will be a tactical failure.

Okay… I mean lots of professors have lectures on YouTube and shit, I was assuming you meant like a big name professor. I’m not even disagreeing I was just genuinely curious

Oh well I’m kind of wary of people being like “who said that” online since TPUSA and other right wing orgs run “professor watchlists” where they create lists of professors with their names, institutions, and even contact info/addresses who they deem “woke” and accuse of indoctrination. Sorry I came on a little strong. But no I don’t think he’s a big name, everyone at the panel was faculty from my relatively small state school.

Obviously still good academics to get hired by the 3rd or 4th biggest state school in a state with a standout public university system, just probably not huge names. The biggest name I think ever taught me in our PoliSci department is probably a bigger name as a constitutional lawyer than as a professor. And he doesn’t work here anymore.

And yes, before anyone asks, there was a conservative professor on the panel. He may have been laughed at by both a couple of his colleagues and the audience when he essentially just parroted the Administration line, but he was included.
