i mean he quite literally is the definition of a martyr? being killed for you beliefs is being a martyr, whether you agree with those beliefs or not

But *treating someone like a martyr* implies sympathy for their beliefs as well. Many Nazis were martyred for their politics, but we do not honor them. Many confederates were martyred for their devotion to tyranny, but we do not honor them. Charlie Kirk was martyred for being a racist turd, and we should not honor him.
