There’s still some states they don’t go to. Is it somehow fair that they focus on swing states over other states? Also the implication that you aren’t an everyday American if you live in a city is cringe.
Hot Take but I hope we keep the Electoral College. Without it, no candidate would ever campaign in Iowa or New Hampshire again. Both sides would pander to the city urbanites and the interests of the everyday American would be lost.

Yeah because having a system where our candidates only campaign in NYC and LA would be fantastic for American politics. Don’t get me wrong, I really hate Trump, but it was something special that he was out campaigning in towns with populations of like 10k. In a popular vote system, that would never happen.

I don’t get how it’s better to focus on people who happen to live a swing state over people who happen to live in a city. Regardless what you do you’ll still be prioritizing a group of people over another just bc of where they live. The only difference is their votes will be weighted the same.

Because city voters are catered to regardless. Candidates still have to campaign in Detroit, Philly, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Charlotte, Richmond, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, etc. the electoral college makes them have to consider rural voters too

Yeah it’s cool they focus on 5 or 6 states that have cities in them. You would still care about rural voters it would just be weighted by how much of the country they actually make up. If anything it would make the areas you pick less arbitrary and you wouldn’t be inflating anyone’s vote.
