On the first one, the population crisis is being managed through selective immigration and natalist policies. At the moment, immigration is the primary way the country is managing this, by importing millions of temporary workers to prop up the economy. GenZ in Japan will be ready one way or another to have families because grandma’s in Japan are always demanding the grandchildren. As for suicide and burnout, both are being handled with new programs and government initiatives.
Also, let’s be real, America has worse problems than burnouts and population crises. The Japanese don’t have massive cultural divides. The issue is those talking points you brought up were highly sensationalized by western outlets that if put the test, could not tell the difference between Tokyo and Osaka if their lives depended on it. Plus, back in my dad’s day when he worked in Japan, burn out and suicide were a problem until the government got involved. That is almost a solved problem.
The population crisis has a short-term solution, which is more Visa categories and a large temporary worker visa program, which is currently getting overhauled. Long-term solution will be pro childbirth policies, which a technocratic government like Japan can solve, unlike the west. However, in America our population is shrinking too, but is being propped up by rural communities who have multiple children early in life.
