You do know that Jesus can love someone but not support their sins right? I think there are way too many information on Christianity that isn’t true but many are quick to believe. God wants everyone to do what’s right, to hate sin and take care of each other. But to make a post insinuating that God is alongside sin is seemingly weird but hey if that fits their narratives, who cares about truth right?
an ideology is defined as a set of beliefs that are not purely about belief in certain knowledge — essentially mix of fact and myth/theory. homosexuality and gender identity are based in scientific, sociological, and medical fact. there is no mythical or theorized reason to have “belief” because it’s based in factual study via research…
Yea Numbers 31 is definitely one of the harder passages in the Old Testament, and trust me I had wrestled with it for a long time, as many others do. But it’s part of a specific moment of judgement in Israel’s history under the old covenant, not a universal command or model for Christian living. My point was about what Jesus teaches directly and Him referencing God’s design in Genesis, especially on topics like marriage, which is why I referenced Matthew and Mark.
No where does it say anything about sex slaves. The virgin girls were taken captive because they would not be able to live and provide for themselves. Other verses throughout the Bible talk about how to treat captives and directly opposes using them as sex objects. Instead they were to be brought in to families and assimilated into Israelite culture.
I really do, I dont understand where you think hatred is playing a part in this? All I was pointing out were things pulled directly from scripture. I think it’s healthy to talk about scripture and get people thinking about it more often. Like I said, I wish the best for you and you can take it whichever way suits you best.
You do not understand that your scripture is hateful, in and of itself. Your scripture is violent. Your scripture is written by hateful men in an attempt to control. Your scripture was born of violence and genocide by religious crusades… Why people take their morals from that horrific book is beyond me.
you are so dense. DO YOU THINK MAYBE those children would have been able to live just fine if, idk, God didn’t command Moses to murder their entire family and village?? If that’s the case, why did they murder the infants and the boys too and ONLY kept the virgin girls, splitting them among the church and themselves to “keep” … what does that imply??
That was a question. You could say the same goes for me but what I said to you was a question. You got confused with me talking to 6. But go ahead and run I guess. I thought you wanted to talk about scripture but suddenly when it’s brought up externally you think you need to stop talking
I am often listening to theism debates and people discussing theology. I grew up Catholic. God literally commands murder a fuck ton in the bible, so I’m asking if you’d do it if he commanded YOU to do it. Moses did. Abraham did. Both rewarded handsomely for these heinous violent actions… Sure, Isaac wasn’t actually killed, but why in the FUCK was that the loyalty test? Surely the all-knowing God could’ve figured something different that didn’t include attempted murder.
why would i care about someone else’s answer to the question i asked of you, directly? that’s not how subjective opinions work… would YOU personally obey every single command of God, even if it included murdering multiple infant babies (after you murdered the rest of their adult family members)?
I responded to you asking if I must hear the word threat in order to know someone means harm, which was a response to me saying I wish you the best? I’m not running, but it’s clear to me that you aren’t interested in a healthy discussion of scripture and would rather pick a fight until you feel satisfied with feeling “correct”. Also, I responded to you and #4 separately & accordingly. #6 isn’t even involved with this conversation so I think you’re confused with the bouncing back and forth?
So is the Old Testament just all incorrect hullabaloo that means nothing now bc it makes God seem too angry and hateful and scary? You’d probably enjoy and benefit greatly from a call into The Line with Jimmy Snow or Jovan Bradley to attempt to explain this to an atheist — particularly extremely knowledgeable atheists that have deconstructed from Judaism, LDS, Protestant, Catholic, and other Christian denominations.
Truthfully, I’d recommend browsing videos from live debates posted by The Line and by Jovan Bradley on YouTube. There are many videos that will be useful for your understanding of where we are coming from — aka, the understanding that the Christian god is evil, god isn’t real, bible magic is fake, and Jesus wasn’t resurrected. If you want to debate ANY of those five points, call in to debate sometime!
bruh i can’t lie, i busted out LAUGHING when you said it’s a “historical account” LMAO 😂 you can’t possibly think that the Old Testament is some kind of historical account of what actually happened like a textbook, right? Do you take everything in the Old Testament to be a factual historical account?
I wouldn't say it's like a historical textbook, it serves more as a foundational historical and theological context for scriptures. As a Catholic, I believe it's divine and contains religious truth. But like I said, with the new covenant under Jesus, the old testament is not strictly followed like the New Testament.
I’m not attempting to return you to atheism. I am attempting to get you to understand that your religion doesn’t get to dictate that homosexuality is an evil sin and should not be a celebrated love EVER bc someone wrote that someone else said that Jesus told them about it… it’s illogical and EXTREMELY contradictory to your faith’s value on acceptance, forgiveness, unconditional love, welcoming neighbors, etc. So I bring to you how your God is much more evil & sinful than it is to love someone.
I can respect your viewpoints, the same as I respect my own religions viewpoints on such topics. I’m not judging anyone or saying that I hate our homosexual friends at all, nor am I saying that they will never be accepted or forgiven in the eyes of the Lord. Everyone walks their own path and in the end it is only up to Him to judge. I love everyone no matter what walks of life they come from or what lifestyle they may choose.
