this part of the second verse from Eminem’s “Square Dance” (2002) is hitting extremely hard today… “All this terror, America demands action. Next thing you know, you’ve got Uncle Sam’s ass askin to join the Army or what you’ll do for their Navy? You just a baby getting recruited at 18, you on a plane now eating that food & that baked beans. I’m 28, they gon’ take you ‘fore they take me!” 🥲

The money they “need” because of the current gen-z and later employment crisis (because millenials and boomers / the owners of 80+% of non corporation businesses including construction and family owned trade shops) i legit saw several 19 y/o enlisting because they have no other “stable” options. The US knew this war was coming when they started releasing the files thats why when DT lies about the employment or margin stats its only the boomers, millenials and very early genz that believes him

Also 19 by Paul Hardcastle (1996) that samples a news broadcast about how the average American WWII soldier was 26, but the average American soldier in Vietnam was only 19.

“In 1965, Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war. But it wasn’t, it was different in many ways, and so were those that did the fighting. In World War Two, the average age of a combat soldier was 26. In Vietnam, it was 19.”
