For tangible benefits for people it’s better to think pragmatically than in the theoretical imo

Imo I think abstraction is good for determining what you want for society, and pragmatism is good for determining how to achieve that

Yeah but you can know what you want for society pragmatically too. An effort to reach a supposed perfection will inevitably leave one disappointed. The system ought to work as well as humanly possible while being realistic in its execution.
