what kind of assignment?? it sounds like unpaid labor (which is far too fkn common, especially in tech interviews. They’re sneaky asf)

I mean it’s bare bones to know CAD as a MechE

Gave me like 2 questions, 1. wants to me to find the blade angle relative of something relative to the fan off of some prints from 1970(literally). 2. Wants me to use a software I don’t even got access to yet(gonna have to free trial) and make a whole 3-d model off a 2-d print. I just don’t know how long it’s gonna take tbh.

Yeah I can do cad but there’s certain models that take longer than others to do. Also not familiar with the software they want, I gotta download a free trial or something. Just quite the process and time commitment to do just for the chance to even make it to another interview.

Can you check Reddit posts about the company to get insight and see if it’s worth it and if you’d wanna go forward

Smaller company, I’ll probably check glassdoor. But I just don’t want the job THAT bad and it just gets to the point like since when did they start wanting you to put in 10 hours into a company to earn an person interview

We can’t afford to be pickers and choosers in this economy. Get the salary range, get the experience

I’m probably not doing it, I don’t really feel like it

It's quite obvious in this late stage capitalist society of ours that's full of ghost jobs that it's not impossible for a company to just ask for free labour from the large unemployment market free of penalty.
