That’s not how shutdowns work. 60 senators need to agree on a funding bill, or the government can’t operate. Republicans and Democrats could not find a compromise to meet that 60-vote threshold. At no point did Dems vote “for” a shutdown, that’s a partisan misrepresentation of the facts.
