Actually have a very similar situation I wanted to ask y’all abt. There’s a cop in my home town who flies a massive confederate flag in his front yard. Should there be some legal mechanism to remove him from his position bc of this?

There should be. But y’know, that’s what they’re all about.

An officer of the “law” who feels comfortable flying seditious and racist symbols should not be trusted with carrying out his duties

by flying the flag, he clearly shows prejudice towards people of color so he cannot fairly uphold the law. he should be removed

I mean if it hampers his ability to do his job I would say so. That would apply to any other job.

Blue wave is here to tell us that confederate cops are ok as long as they leave their opinions at home

By saying “if” are you saying that it’s possible that his beliefs wouldn’t hamper his ability to administer justice impartially? Also I think the second point is pretty obviously not the case, a white supremacist garbage man is in much less of a position to cause harm than a white supremacist police officer

That’s not what you should take from that lmao. I’m not pro confederacy I feel like you should be good faith enough to know that. How would you know if a cop is pro confederacy if they never tell anyone?

No I’m applying a rule, I’m saying if x belief hurts your ability to do a job then your free game to be fired. I’m not saying it’s debatable if a confederate flag would hurt a police officer’s ability to do their job, it obviously would.

Lmao why would you assume I’m pro confederate lmao? I get the frog guy, I don’t think I’ve interacted with him but you should know that, crazy.

I didn’t assume that. You’ve clarified what you meant and it’s fine

I guess I’m just not sure why you’d back up to a more general rule when the example I gave was a clear instance of a situation where someone’s belief would absolutely interfere with their ability to do their job.

No I can see why that would confuse you.

Not trying to be a snob but the way you phrased that made it sound like I failed to understand a clear point you made, when I think it’s more accurate that your point wasn’t clear. I think others were confused as well yk

No I for sure had a knee jerk reaction, but I can see where the confusion came from. Boar is my arch nemesis so I expect him to know.

I’ve seen liberals compromise on more and more; I just wasn’t sure if you were gonna do the whole ‘Well it’s free speech, we don’t *really* know how he feels’ thing.
