Also I think the second point is pretty obviously not the case, a white supremacist garbage man is in much less of a position to cause harm than a white supremacist police officer

No I’m applying a rule, I’m saying if x belief hurts your ability to do a job then your free game to be fired. I’m not saying it’s debatable if a confederate flag would hurt a police officer’s ability to do their job, it obviously would.

I guess I’m just not sure why you’d back up to a more general rule when the example I gave was a clear instance of a situation where someone’s belief would absolutely interfere with their ability to do their job.
