Republicans just use “enforcing the border” as a scare word for broad xenophobic policy. Democrats don’t advocate for open borders, they just don’t put people in camps during deportations and don’t kidnap people off the street. If Republicans cared about safe immigration policy they wouldn’t be removing paths to legal immigration and having the only refugees be white South Africans. It’s just racism.

Major difference between “enforcing the border” and kidnapping people and deporting them to a mega prison in El Salvador while they actively try to complete the process to citizenship you people cry so much about

What is a bad thing, is where you go beyond that and decide to carry out raids without warrants, without due process, start involving prison camps in foreign countries with vastly different levels of human rights than our own, and plan on building other prison camps with gator moats

Yes that is bad. And it’s not just dislike of foreigners it’s brown foreigners. Latinos share tons in common with Americans historically and culturally. They’re Christians from the Americas with a history of democratic government and a frontier culture. Way more in common than Slovenians like Melania or the Italians who came a century ago. But they’re brown so it’s scary.

And my ancestors were considered strange politically radial violent foreigners with a different religion of unclear allegiance and a propensity for substance abuse and gang violence. Those were the Irish. They aren’t considered scary now.

If you dislike someone just because they used to live in another country, you’re a bad person.
